The Block Arcade’s mosaic floors have been listed as one of the World’s most instagramable floors.
The Block Arcade at 282 Collins Street, was built in two phases – the Collins Street wing is the oldest, dating back to 1892. The Elizabeth Street wing was created in 1893. It is arguably the most beautiful Arcade in Melbourne, and now it can lay claim to having the second most instagramable floor in the World.
The Daily Mail, UK, has recently published a list of the most Insta-worthy floors:
‘Looking for a quick way to impress your social media followers? Then look down, take a picture and post it. That’s because you could be standing on one of the world’s most Instagrammable floors. Pictures of eye-catching floor designs are being frequently shared across Instagram, with a recent study revealing the most popular – and they include those in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Block Arcade shopping centre in Melbourne and the light clock on the Via Laietana passageway in Barcelona.‘
The mosaic floors were designed by the UK company Craven Dunnell, each tile was imported from Italy and all the tiles, except for dark chocolate, are in reserve. So next time you walk through The Block Arcade, look down and appreciate the intricate designs of this beautiful floor.
